Low Vision

It is thought that around 100 people start losing their sight every day. In some cases, sight loss can be sudden, leaving devastating effects on a person’s life.

A low vision assessment is an extended eye test for individuals with poor sight. Through this, we aim to find ways in which any potential sight can be used to its maximum. A low vision assessment can take around an hour, during which time the Optometrist will:

  • Examine the health of your eyes
  • Check your vision at distance and near
  • Determine the magnification necessary for you to carry out different tasks
  • Assess the lighting and discuss any improvements for you

A Low Vision Report can also be prepared for the benefit of your next of kin, carers and other professionals involved with your care to help everyone understand the situation with your eyes.

Our Optometrists specialise in Low Vision, and have worked in hospital clinics for several years. We keep up to date with the latest developments In Low Vision to ensure that you receive the best advice to help you to continue your tasks and stay independent for as long as possible.

We will also advise and recommend any steps you can take to manage your eye condition that will be of benefit to you, suggesting where and how these can be availed.
